Our tax clinic is a project that seeks to promote civic responsibility and develop social awareness. It also aims to offer student volunteers the opportunity to acquire tax knowledge, in addition to allowing low-income residents of the Côte-des-Neiges district and surrounding areas to benefit from a completely free of charge tax assistance service.
The SRA's Social Responsibility Committee, in collaboration with the Canada Revenu Agency and Revenu Quebec, is proud to host the 37th edition of the HEC Montreal’s Tax Clinic, which will be held from March 23th to March 26th, 2023.
Since 1986, the HEC Montreal’s Tax Clinic has been providing tax assistance services in which nearly 250 student volunteers from HEC Montreal get involved during the tax period by offering completely free tax return preparation sessions. This social project helps the student community and low-income residents of the Côte-des-Neiges district and its surroundings.
To ensure that we provide a professional service, our student volunteers must follow numerous training courses offered by tax experts working in the government as well as by the supplier of the software that we use during the tax clinic. During these trainings, volunteers become familiar with the main tax rules that apply to our customers. Our activity is thus designed to reinforce the theoretical tax training offered to accounting students. It goes without saying that the HEC Montreal Tax Clinic is a major project, with real added value for both student volunteers and our beneficiaries.
